We finally made it to Butterfly Wonderland! It seems like every weekend around here has been filled with Soccer, Football, Track and Stage Crew! I mean our schedule has been TIGHT! You may remember from my post WAY back in November 2014 that we were planning to go soon. We were really looking forward to it. By we I mean me and my daughter. The boys were at least acting like they were not interested. I was really surprised at how much they enjoyed the visit. I could barely get them to leave. We got so many good photos. I wish I could put them all in this post without breaking the internet!
The movie you get to see in 3D before you enter the pavillion is so cool. It really is a great way to introduce the kids into the plight of the butterfly. After the movie you head into an area with tons of cocoons behind glass. All are real and waiting for a butterfly to emerge. We were lucky enough to catch one. From that point on my kids were hooked. They could not wait to get into the pavillion and were hoping a butterfly would land on them during the visit.
My youngest son was wearing a bright orange shirt. I am not sure if it was the shirt or his personality but the butterflies loved him. I think at least six landed on him over the course of our visit. In the pavillion butterflies are literally everywhere. You have to be careful where you walk and where you sit. I could not believe my eyes when I saw both my boys sitting quiet and still together.
Sitting still as possible. Hard for these two!
Of course all my teen wanted was a butterfly selfie! She was beaming with excitement when she got this opportunity!
Do you follow me on Instagram? You should head over there and see the photo I took of a white butterfly with my iphone. It is absolutely beautiful.
Here are a few more photos I loved.
On the way out you get to see some ant and bees at work. You can pet the sting rays and see some sea life. And of course you could spend hours shopping in the gift shop. I love bees and this was the largest collection of bee gifts I have seen in a while.
Butterfly Wonderland (Loop 101 and Via de Ventura) is located at 9500 E. Via de Ventura in Scottsdale and is uniquely positioned on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in one of the most desirable geographic regions of the entire metropolitan Phoenix area.
